Carol Lopez grew up in Independence, Mo and moved to Wichita in 1988.
As a non-traditional student at Wichita State University, she fulfilled a long-time desire to take a black and white photography class. The class inspired her in many ways, including motivating her to build a darkroom in her home where she printed her own work for several years.
In an age when most photographers have switched to digital cameras, Lopez is a passionate film photographer—despite the persuasive and ongoing arguments of close friends!
The majority of the photos displayed here were taken on a trip to England in the fall of 2010. With her favorite camera (a Canon AE1) and several rolls of black and white film in hand, Lopez walked the streets and scenes of Liverpool, Chester and Cheltenham in England, as well as those in Wrexham, in northern Wales, capturing her European experience in black and white.
