Anyway, if it gets any hotter in Ukraine, state run railways will be the last thing people worry about. 😵‍💫.

Good job we'll have the left to defend us. Corbyn can come back as defence sec. Jezza Jezza. 🤣🤣.

  • anamnesis25 April 2024

    Lol.
"That's OK if you're making fridges but not if you're supposedly providing a service to the public, surely."

Better strip all private sector involvement from the 'wonderful' nhs then.

But I say bring it on. Full state control. It's what the (sleeping dog) looney left are demanding, and I think they should get it, to remind everybody with any sense, just what state contro...

Water (and sewage) is too important to be subjected to market forces where organisations look for ways to make profits from it (nothing wrong in making money) rather than its strategic importance in the health of the population and the environment.
I'd prefer Labour to renationalise this than the railways.

Nothing wrong with plethora Bill 😏

  • Bill Bretherton25 April 2024

Well if you re-nationalise rail etc. it has to be well managed, of course. I don't think it's just ideology. You'd think that a single, well managed entity should be more efficient because you only need one team of lawyers, one team of accountants, one chief executive and one chairman rather than the plethora (come on, it's a good word) of highly paid staff the multiple private companies are empl...

I am about to pull the engine on my YB and the wiring harness runs through the headlight bar into the headlamps. Do I cut the wires under the fender and resplice when going back together of take the headlamps apart to unhook the wires and lay them aside? Thank you in advance

  • Jeremy MkIII25 April 2024

Agreed Trev but the Post Office/Royal Mail and the railways - Network Rail/TOCs are both hybrid models or as you say a half way house approach and both aren't working.
Suppose it depends how you want your taxes spent; either to support an inefficient publicly owned body eg BR or paying a private monopoly where the profits are spirited away (as dividends) to foreign investors and the debts are l...

  • T Mason25 April 2024

I don't think any of the privatisations have worked, but equally they were not very efficient when nationalised. I think a better way to run them might be to have a half way house a bit like a lot of council houses are now where they are run as a not for profit company. There are some very good ones of those about, but equally some bad ones too, so no easy answer.

    Trev

  • Jeremy MkIII25 April 2024

'A turd's a turd' indeed and most of them seem to be floating in our rivers, lakes, seas and decorating our beaches, thanks to the privatised water companies.

Neither rail nor water privatisations have been successful so how would you address either or both?

  • A L SLATTERY25 April 2024

Yes, Tap with a brass hammer through the starter opening on the front face of the flywheel, while turning a quarter turn every couple of taps. There are 4 bolts and 2 dowels, so it will resist being removed just a bit.

You might check the oil feed hole to the clutch is clear in the centre of the crank and ensure the bearings in the rear main are feeding oil to the clutch.

    If you ...

Any old scanner should talk to it
It has to be EOBD though
The OBD port looks the same as OBD2 and the usual problem is workshops poke their generic OBD2 scanner in there because that's what the port looks like then tell you it won't talk to it--you need EOBD
